
UPM SERDANG - The first day of the Malay Gunpowder and Firearms Seminar took place on 6th November 2024, where six papers were presented by speakers with diverse backgrounds, sharing their expertise and knowledge on various aspects of Malay firearms, including the evolution of firearms, intelligence, and weaponry in Malay history.
The invited presenters on the first day of the seminar were Dato' Dr. Abdul Mua'ti @ Zamri Ahmad (Consulting Fellow, FBMK), Dr. Mohd Hasanuddin Mohd Yusof, Brig. Gen. Dato' Dr. Mohd Radzi Abdul Hamid (Malaysian Army), Major Johizan Halid (Army Museum), Ts. Muhammad Syafiq Mohd Zamshari (STRIDE), and Dr. Azharuddin Mohamed Dali (UM).
Apart from UPM's community (including the UPM Reserve Officer Training Unit (PALAPES), UPM Student Police Volunteer Corps (SUKSIS), UPM University Police and Security Centre (APSeC)), the seminar participants also included attendees from the Terengganu State Museum Board, Sabah State Museum Department, Petaling Jaya City Council, external agencies, and individual participants. The seminar was further enhanced by the presence of the youngest participant, Syed Abu Bakar Syed Ahmad Thani.
