SMK Iskandar Shah Students Gain Exposure to Higher Education Through Visit to UPM

SERDANG, 20 August 2026 – A total of 117 participants comprising 104 Form Six students and 13 accompanying teachers from Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan (SMK) Iskandar Shah, Jasin, Melaka, visited Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), particularly the Faculty of Modern Languages and Communication (FBMK), on Thursday.

Held from 10.00 a.m. to 1.00 p.m., the educational visit aimed to expose students to the learning environment and experience of higher education, while motivating them to pursue further studies and strive for academic excellence in the future.

During the visit, participants explored the Malay Heritage Museum, gaining insights into the history, heritage and cultural treasures of the Malay world preserved as valuable educational resources for younger generations.

The participants also visited Putra FM, UPM’s campus radio station, where they were introduced to the role of broadcasting and communication in disseminating information and connecting with the community.

The visit provided the students with meaningful exposure to the academic environment at UPM while broadening their understanding of the diverse opportunities available in higher education. The experience is expected to encourage the students to plan their educational pathways with greater confidence and clarity, while inspiring them to pursue their aspirations and future goals.
