UPM SERDANG, JANUARY 20, 2025 – The 2025 Acting Arts Festival, organised by students of the Bachelor of Arts in Malay Literature with Honours programme under the Department of Malay Language, Faculty of Modern Languages and Communication, Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), was successfully held under the course code BBK3407 Acting Arts. The event was conducted in collaboration with Kelab Sastika and supported by MJ Resources, which sponsored the floodlights.

The 2025 Acting Arts Festival adopted an open performance concept, a staging approach that removes traditional barriers between the stage and the audience. This immersive theatrical experience integrates the entire space, including the surrounding environment, as an integral part of the performance.

Through this festival, the students adapted plays written by renowned playwrights Syahrul Fitri Musa, Roziah Adama, and Siti Jasmina Ibrahim, allowing them to explore various theatrical scripts such as realism, surrealism, absurdism, experimental theatre, and tragedy. The open performance took place at the Wisata Seni mini amphitheatre, Faculty of Modern Languages and Communication, UPM. The open or roofless space enhanced the projection of the actors' voices, ensuring better audibility for the audience.

The festival was conducted under the guidance of Dr Fazilah binti Husin, the course instructor, as part of a compulsory course for students of the Bachelor of Arts in Malay Literature with Honours programme. This festival not only exposed students to the intricacies of acting and stage management but also provided valuable lessons in teamwork, ethical adaptation and interaction, processes and procedures, as well as discipline and self-confidence.
