MARCH 11, 2025, UPM SERDANG – The talk and sharing session on “The Uniqueness and Beauty of the Chinese Language”, jointly organised by the Faculty of Modern Languages and Communication (FBMK), UPM, and the Malaysian Chinese Language Advancement Association, was successfully held at Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Mantin on 28 February 2025. This programme aimed to share insights with SMK Mantin students about the uniqueness and beauty of the Chinese language while motivating them to continue their Chinese language studies at the tertiary level.
The FBMK delegation was led by Dr Chin Mooi San and Dr Wong Siew Jye, accompanied by five undergraduate students from the Bachelor of Chinese Language Studies with Honours programme. Dr Chin shared insights into the uniqueness of Classical Chinese, while Dr Wong focused on creative works in novels and lyrics. First-year students Cheang Jia Hui, Goh Wee Han, Koh Chong Fook, Lee Min Yu, and Tan Jian Yi shared their experiences with SMK Mantin students on learning the Chinese language from Form Six to university level.
Through this sharing session, it is hoped that more students will be inspired to deepen their Chinese language studies and recognise it as a valuable asset in education and career development. The success of this programme demonstrates how the collective efforts of higher education institutions can play a significant role in strengthening language proficiency within the community.
