FBMK Pearl Radiance Gala in Celebration of Its 30th Anniversary

UPM SERDANG, OCTOBER 6, 2025 - The Deputy Prime Minister, Dato’ Seri Dr. Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, proposed that the Faculty of Modern Languages and Communication (FBMK), Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) be established as the National Narrative Laboratory—a center to strengthen national discourse through the faculty’s expertise in communication, language, and research, which have long been the pillars of its excellence.

The meaningful proposal was announced during the FBMK Pearl Radiance Gala 2025, held on 4 October 2025 at the Dewan Besar, Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah Cultural and Arts Centre. The grand celebration marked 30 years of FBMK’s journey as a cradle of knowledge and cultural heritage, bringing together over 450 alumni, strategic partners, and advocates of language, communication, and literature for an evening filled with nostalgia and appreciation.

In the historic ceremony, Dato’ Seri Dr. Ahmad Zahid, himself an FBMK alumnus of the Class of 2008, also announced a contribution of RM350,000, officiated the launch of the FBMK Pearl Jubilee Coffee Table Book and the official corporate video, and inaugurated the FBMK Alumni Chapter under the UPM Alumni Association. He also presented several FBMK Alumni Awards in recognition of the contributions and achievements of the faculty’s graduates.

UPM Vice-Chancellor Dato’ Professor Ir. Dr. Ahmad Farhan Mohd Sadullah expressed his pride and gratitude, noting that the event not only celebrated the faculty’s achievements over three decades but also served as a meaningful reunion that rekindled memories and strengthened bonds among staff and alumni.

This inaugural gala dinner beautifully reflected FBMK’s remarkable journey—from a modest faculty born out of great passion, it now stands tall as an institution that enriches culture, strengthens national identity, and elevates UPM’s name on both national and international stages.
