UPM SERDANG, JULY 11, 2025 – Two discussion sessions were successfully held with the Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah Cultural and Arts Centre (PKKSSAAS) on 24 June and 9 July 2025. These sessions comprehensively discussed the implementation and disbursement of the Semarak Merdeka 2025 Programme Activity Grant. The main focus was on the programme's implementation mechanisms and the allocation of the grant to selected faculties or responsibility centres, particularly to the recipient of the Overall Main Award for the Semarak Merdeka 2024 Programme, who had demonstrated outstanding commitment in organising nation-themed activities.
This grant is part of the university's strategic initiative to support and strengthen the organisation of high-impact activities in conjunction with the National Day celebrations at UPM. It aims to foster a spirit of patriotism and reinforce national values among the campus community, including students, academic and non-academic staff. At the same time, the implementation of programmes under this grant is expected to further enliven the university-level independence celebrations and serve as a platform to build national identity and character within the UPM community.
This effort is also in line with the university's aspiration to develop campus citizens who are not only academically excellent but also aware of the nation's history, struggles, and the sacrifices made by earlier generations in achieving independence. PKKSSAAS, as the main secretariat for the programme, has shown strong commitment in ensuring the smooth implementation of this grant, including aspects of monitoring, evaluating programme effectiveness, and compiling final reports for each initiative carried out.
