The "Children's Appreciation and Expression Programme" (ADEK 2024) was held at Dewan Bahasa dan Pustaka (DBP), Kuala Lumpur. The programme was organised by the Department of Malay Language, Faculty of Modern Languages and Communication, Universiti Putra Malaysia, and Dewan Bahasa dan Pustaka, in collaboration with KEMAS and the Children’s and Youth Literature Community Network.
Centred on the theme "Hear Our Voice", the programme aimed to develop children’s potential through various activities focused on art, literature, and language. The event was officiated by YBrs. Dr. Hazami bin Jahari, Director-General of DBP.
Highlights of the programme included a children’s literature writing workshop, a children’s short story writing competition, colouring contests, storytelling competitions, book review readings, poetry recitations, a puppet show by DBP, a craft session with National Laureate Datuk Dr. Siti Zainon Ismail, and a children’s storybook exhibition. Additionally, ADEK 2024 sought to foster a love for literature, the Malay language, and cultural heritage.
The programme primarily targeted primary school and preschool students in the Petaling district. Coinciding with World Children’s Day celebrations, this event provided a unique platform for children to express themselves in a guided and relaxed environment.
