UPM SERDANG – The Faculty of Modern Languages and Communication, UPM, organised the Semarak Merdeka 2024 Appreciation Ceremony at Bilik Seri Amar to celebrate the faculty’s remarkable success in the UPM Semarak Merdeka 2024 Competition, hosted by the Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah Cultural and Arts Centre (PKKSSAAS).

The ceremony aimed to recognise the commitment and teamwork of FBMK staff who gave their utmost effort, leading to this proud achievement for the faculty. FBMK was crowned Champion of the Jalur Gemilang Inter-PTJ Flag Display Competition and received the prestigious title of Best Overall Responsibility Center (PTJ) Champion in the competition. Furthermore, FBMK staff member Suhairey Shah Mashara won Runner-Up in the Merdeka Poetry Recitation Inter-PTJ Competition, showcasing the exceptional artistic talent within the faculty.

The UPM Semarak Merdeka 2024 Competition took place from August 13 to August 21, 2024, involving active participation from various responsibility centers. FBMK Dean, Associate Professor Dr. Hazlina Abdul Halim, attended the ceremony and expressed her pride and satisfaction with the dedication demonstrated by all faculty members.

"This achievement is a testament to the spirit of collaboration and love for the nation displayed by everyone in the faculty. I deeply appreciate all your efforts," she said during her speech of appreciation.
