
UPM SERDANG, APRIL 8, 2025 – The Faculty of Modern Languages and Communication, Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), in collaboration with Tulir Malaysia and Dewan Bahasa dan Pustaka (DBP), successfully hosted the Closing Ceremony of the 2025 Malay Language Standard Preservation Congress (KOPESTA 2.0) at the Za’ba Auditorium, FBMK, UPM.
The ceremony was officiated by YBhg. Datuk Haji Azman Haji Adnan, Director-General of Education Malaysia, and attended by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hazlina Abdul Halim (Dean of FBMK, UPM), Mr. Abang Haliman Abang Julai (Director of the Department of Language and Literature Development, DBP), Prof. Dr. Vijayaletchumy Subramaniam (President of Tulir Malaysia), and Ms. Fairuz Nadira Zainal (Google Malaysia).
The congress gathered 200 Malay language teachers from Putrajaya, Melaka, and Negeri Sembilan across national, Tamil, and Chinese vernacular schools to explore challenges and innovations in the teaching and learning of the national language.
With the theme “Malay Language Innovation as the Catalyst for a New Mindset Revolution,” three key papers were presented in the morning session, focusing on copyright for pedagogical innovations, integration of DELIMa digital tools, and the use of AI videography and chatbots in language education.
In his speech, Datuk Azman emphasized, “The Ministry of Education, through DBP, remains committed to enhancing Malay language teaching using modern technologies, starting from school to instill confidence in students of all backgrounds.”
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hazlina added that KOPESTA 2.0 served as a scholarly platform to reflect the dedication of educators in spearheading transformative teaching methods to match today’s educational landscape.
This prestigious event reaffirmed a united commitment to elevating the Malay language as a language of knowledge, unity, and global communication in the digital age.
