On July 10, 2024, the ESCAPADE 2024 program held an informative tour of several interesting places around Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya. The participants of this program started their journey at the National Mosque, a landmark of Malaysian pride that showcases the beauty of modern Islamic architecture.
Then they went to the National Monument, which was constructed to honor the military service of those who lost their lives defending the nation. They received knowledge about the history of the battlefield in Malaysia. The trip continued to Dataran Merdeka, a famous location where, on August 31, 1957, the Malayan flag was hoisted for the first time. The environment and attitude of independence that are still very much present in the area were made available to the participants.
After that, participants crossed the River of Life Bridge, a tourist destination with breathtaking vistas, particularly at night, that was created as part of a river rehabilitation effort. The journey continues to Kuala Lumpur's oldest mosque, Masjid Jamek, which blends Moorish and Mughal architectural features. The mosque's beauty and history astounded the participants.
The famous Central Market, Kuala Lumpur is the next destination, where participants can see and buy various local handicrafts and enjoy Malaysian art and culture. Afterward, the participants moved to Putrajaya and visited the Putra Mosque, one of the most iconic mosques in Malaysia with stunning architecture. Here, participants will get an opportunity to learn more about the role of the mosque in the Muslim community.
At the Prime Minister's Office Lounge, participants had a close look at the country's administrative center, and they were given information on the functions and administrative structure of the Malaysian government. The tour ends at Souq Putrajaya, a shopping center that offers a variety of local and international goods. Here, participants can buy souvenirs to take home as memories.
The participants were excited to continue the trip despite the rainy weather since it offered a great experience and expanded their understanding of Malaysia's history, culture, and architecture.
