
UPM SERDANG – The Semarak Jawi Program, organised by the National Library of Malaysia, was inaugurated with great ceremony on August 13, 2024, featuring a keynote address by Associate Professor Dr. Adi Yasran Abdul Aziz, the Deputy Dean of Academics and Student Affairs, Faculty of Language and Communication (FBMK). The inauguration ceremony took place at the Nik Mohd Mohyideen Musa Hall, Institute of Teacher Education, Islamic Education Campus, Bangi.
Aligned with its mission to elevate the Jawi script within the community, the program also featured the Bestari Jawi Camp, held over two days from August 13 to 14, 2024. This camp aimed to foster interest and skills in learning the Jawi script among participants, while also offering them the opportunity to explore Malay history and cultural heritage through an interactive and educational approach.
Through a variety of planned activities, participants had the chance to appreciate the beauty of Jawi calligraphy and understand its role in the history of Malay society. This program is expected to instill a deep appreciation for the Jawi script and Malay cultural heritage, nurturing a generation that values their national identity.
