Introduction
The Department of Foreign Languages focuses on the development of modern languages, in addition to Malay and English. Emphasis is placed on aspects of language, linguistics, translation, and the literature of Arabic and Chinese. The curriculum for the Bachelor of Arts programs in Arabic, Chinese, French, and German has been designed based on comprehensive foundational concepts to produce well-rounded individuals with proficiency in various languages and skills in multiple disciplines. In addition to the Bachelor of Arts programs, the Department of Foreign Languages also has professional academic staff competent in other foreign languages such as Tamil, Japanese, and Spanish. The department's lecturers are also actively involved in industrial and community networks involving government, private sectors, statutory bodies, NGOs, and communities both locally and internationally.
Objectives
In a rapidly evolving world with advanced communication facilities, the ability to speak, write, listen, and read in foreign languages adds significant value. Graduates specializing in Arabic, Chinese, French, and German can seize job opportunities in Southeast Asia, the Middle East, Europe, and East Asia, including China, Hong Kong, and Taiwan, in fields such as education, publishing, broadcasting and journalism, translation, business, tourism, banking, and public relations.
