
Giving and receiving help are essential aspects of organisational life, whether it's offering career advice or seeking input from colleagues on a complex technical problem that you cannot solve on your own.
Through the exchange of help, individuals will gain to ideas, resources, and connections that enable them to complete tasks more efficiently and effectively than working alone.
However, some research has documented various ways in which people routinely fail to seek or offer help due to misperceptions—namely, discrepancies in what help-seekers and help-givers believe is expected of each other.
