Powerful: Grateful for a New Way to Define Soft Skills

Soft skills, often deemed optional, are mislabeled, overlooking their essential role in leadership. Termed "power skills," they encompass crucial attributes like communication and empathy. Illustrating this, the restaurant group Snooze exemplifies extraordinary power skills in its leaders. Their annual conference, themed "Moments Matter," emphasizes creating memorable experiences. Operating by a compass guiding interactions with guests and their team (affectionately called Snoozers), Snooze exudes passion and commitment. Leaders here prioritize power skills, fostering enthusiasm and dedication that set them apart. In a culture of gratitude, every team member feels acknowledged and empowered. Shifting from viewing people skills as soft to recognizing them as power skills is vital for success and enjoyable leadership.
