Occupational Safety and Health (OSHA) Committee

Introduction

The establishment of the Occupational Safety and Health Committee (JKKP) at the Faculty of Modern Languages and Communication aims to ensure a safe and healthy working environment. JKKP is responsible for protecting and monitoring the well-being of employees, including lecturers, support staff, and students involved in faculty activities.

Implementation Objectives

The primary objective of JKKP is to safeguard occupational safety and health by identifying, monitoring, and reducing risks and hazards in the workplace. This is aimed at reducing the likelihood of injuries, work-related illnesses, or accidents within the faculty.

Functions of JKKP

  1. Provision and implementation of occupational safety and health policies: JKKP will assist in formulating and implementing policies and procedures in line with laws, regulations, and standards. This will be done with guidance from the Occupational Safety and Health Management (PPKKP) of UPM. It includes issuing guidelines, standard operating procedures, and best practices to ensure the effectiveness of occupational safety and health.

  2. Inspection and risk assessment: JKKP will assist UPM's PPKKP in conducting workplace inspections and risk assessments to identify potential hazards and measure associated risks. This involves assessing aspects such as cleanliness, building conditions, equipment, and related work activities.

  3. Implementation of preventive and protective measures: JKKP will take necessary actions to reduce risks and hazards in the workplace, including identifying suitable personal protective equipment, providing training on its use, and ensuring compliance with established safety procedures.

  4. Consultation and training: JKKP, in collaboration with PPKKP UPM, will provide consultation and training to employees and students on occupational safety and health. This includes disseminating information on existing workplace hazards, safe equipment handling, and emergency procedures.

  5. Monitoring and reporting: JKKP will monitor the occupational safety and health conditions in the faculty and provide periodic reports to PPKKP UPM. This includes reporting accidents, unforeseen incidents, or occupational illnesses and taking necessary recovery measures.

  6. Promotion of safety culture: JKKP will promote awareness and compliance with occupational safety and health aspects among employees and students. This involves conducting awareness programs, campaigns, and providing motivation to foster a positive safety culture in the workplace.
