Malay Heritage Museum

Introduction

The Malay Heritage Museum, Faculty of Modern Languages and Communication, Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) was inaugurated on April 8, 2014, by the former Vice-Chancellor of UPM at that time. As a museum under the administration of the country's leading public university, the Malay Heritage Museum aims to be a reference institution for the heritage and civilization of the Malay nation. Among them are Malay manuscripts, attire, and weaponry, and of course, four traditional houses (from Pahang, Negeri Sembilan, Perak, and Terengganu) that stand proudly and majestically on the Cultural Grounds. These artifacts are certainly not the first and last to mark the splendor of the Malay world on the green campus of Serdang, as at all times we strive to introduce other similar artifacts that can make the Malay Heritage Museum a landmark of Universiti Putra Malaysia.

The Malay Heritage Museum is not merely fulfilling its function as an exhibition center for visitors thirsty for knowledge. The Malay Heritage Museum also serves its role to bring the community closer to scholarly programs in the form of seminars/webinars, workshops, and literary, artistic, and cultural carnivals. Additionally, the Malay Heritage Museum provides space for public engagement through services and site rentals. These include purposes such as weddings, photography, and family days.

The Malay Heritage Museum, Faculty of Modern Languages and Communication, Universiti Putra Malaysia, is a registered museum under the International Council of Museums, ICOM, and also the Asia-Europe Museum Network. Membership in these international museum institutions is crucial to ensure that the museum does not lag behind in the field of museology.
