Introduction
The Department Of Malay Language focuses on the development of the Malay language in terms of language skills, grammar, and linguistics. In the field of Malay literature, the focus is on classification, criticism, and production of creative works. In addition, the Department has also focused on Malay culture. All these aspects are highlighted through teaching, research, publications, development and consulting. The department also focuses on aspects of translation and writing as both are increasingly clearly needed in the context of national development in the future.
The restructuring and integration aspects and areas of these focuses are in line with the concepts and goals of the integrated approach that combines aspects of language study linguistics, literature, and culture as a means of the formation of civilization. With regards to the focus of this, set we have ensured that the discipline will be able to grow wider and is well-planned. In addition, the establishment of this department also takes into account the planning of new programmes in the future so that the end-products can contribute effectively and meaningfully in order to meet the aspirations and needs of the country.
Objectives
• To upgrade the linguistic and literary teachings to postgraduate level in order to generate dynamic individuals with skills needed in the fields for the global job markets.
• To enhance and strengthen the competencies of graduates in a variety of languages and literature so as to become more competent and capable; to meet the manpower requirements of the culture of knowledge and to foster national integration.
• To proactively upgrade and implement research and publications in the field of linguistics and literature.
• To streamline and improve the terminology and translation activities in order to curb naiveté of knowledge.
• To plan and implement development activities and professional services more effectively and sustainably in order to empower the Malay language.
