
UPM SERDANG, MAY 7, 2025 – Two lecturers from the Department of Malay Language, Faculty of Modern Languages and Communication (FBMK), Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), were invited as Visiting Lecturers at Universitas Indraprasta PGRI (UNINDRA), Jakarta, Indonesia, from 1 to 7 May 2025.
The two academics, Associate Professor Datin Dr Nik Rafidah Nik Muhamad Affendi and Dr Rozita Che Rodi, were invited to deliver scholarly lectures to UNINDRA’s academic community and students as part of efforts to strengthen regional academic networking.
During the lecture sessions, Associate Professor Datin Dr Nik Rafidah Nik Muhamad Affendi presented two main topics: “Malaysian–Indonesian Folktales: Tracing Human Values in the Oral Traditions of the Archipelago”, which highlighted an in-depth analysis of the shared human values revealed through the folktale heritage of both countries; and “Enhancing Research Visibility: Publishing in Reputable International Journals”, which offered practical guidance and strategies to improve the impact of research through publication in indexed international journals.
Meanwhile, Dr Rozita Che Rodi delivered a lecture titled “Language, Meaning and Regional Identity: A Semantic Perspective on the Internationalisation of Knowledge”, which explored the role of language as a medium for shaping regional identity, along with the challenges and opportunities in the context of knowledge internationalisation.
The programme received a highly positive response from UNINDRA, which emphasised the importance of knowledge exchange, experience sharing, and intellectual collaboration between Malaysian and Indonesian academics in advancing regional scholarship.
