UPM SERDANG - In conjunction with the 48th Convocation Ceremony of Universiti Putra Malaysia, the Faculty of Modern Languages and Communication organised the Student Excellence Award Ceremony and Graduate Hooding Ceremony on 28th November 2024, held at the Za'ba Auditorium, FBMK, UPM.

This ceremony was held to recognise and celebrate the outstanding achievements of undergraduate and postgraduate graduates, who have worked diligently and overcome various challenges to meet the requirements for earning their degrees. The event saw 17 recipients of the Best Student Award in the Bachelor’s category and 4 recipients of the Best Student Award in the Master’s Coursework category.

This meaningful ceremony was attended by Tuan Ramlan Awang Ali, CEO of the Sabah Islamic Religious Council (MUIS), who represented YB Datuk Dr. Hj. Mohd Arifin Mohd Arif, Associate Professor Dr. Hazlina Abdul Halim, Dean of the Faculty of Modern Languages and Communication, sponsors, lecturers, and the graduates' parents.

The ceremony continued with the Graduate Hooding Ceremony, where 57 Master’s and PhD graduates were celebrated. In this academic tradition, the hood, which symbolises academic success, was donned by the graduates with the assistance of their respective supervisors. This act not only marks the attainment of knowledge but also serves as a recognition of the guidance provided by the supervisors and the close mentor-mentee relationship developed during the course of the studies.

This year's Student Excellence Award and Graduate Hooding Ceremony was sponsored by 19 sponsors from various corporate organisations, charitable bodies, and generous individuals who joined in celebrating the success of the graduates.
