The Opening Ceremony of the Programme to Foster the Reading of Classical Malay Works Amongst Youth

UPM SERDANG - The Opening Ceremony of the Programme to Foster the Reading of Classical Malay Works Amongst Youth was successfully held on 4 November 2024 at the Rashdan Baba Auditorium, Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM). This programme, organised by the Department of Malay Language, Faculty of Modern Languages and Communication UPM, in collaboration with the Yayasan Karyawan, aims to ignite the interest of youth in classical Malay works and strengthen their appreciation of the heritage of language, literature, and culture.

The opening ceremony was officiated by YBhg. Datuk Zainal Abidin Borhan, Chief Executive Officer of Yayasan Karyawan, who emphasised the importance of classical Malay works as the foundation of the nation's identity.

Over 100 participants from five secondary schools joined the Classical Malay Literature Storytelling Competition and the Classical Malay Literature Short Video Competition, which were held online from 25 September 2024 to 25 October 2024.

Congratulations to all the winners, and appreciation is extended to all parties involved in the success of this programme, both directly and indirectly.
