UPM SERDANG, June 2024 - The Opening Ceremony of the Open Day in conjunction with the Decade Celebration of the Malay Heritage Museum was grandly officiated by YBhg. Tuan Mohammad Muda Bahadin, Director-General of the National Heritage Department. Themed "Crossing Generations, Remembering Traditions," the ceremony took place at the Malay Heritage Museum, Faculty of Modern Languages and Communication (FBMK), Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) on 10 June 2024. The event was also attended by the Dean of FBMK, Associate Professor Dr. Hazlina Abdul Halim, along with faculty management members.
The opening ceremony was enlivened with various captivating performances. Among them was a silat performance by Wan Nur Syuhada Wan Deraman, a visually impaired student from the Bachelor of Arts in Malay Literature program. A dance performance by the Putra Nari group, consisting of students and staff of FBMK, also added to the event's vibrancy. Additionally, a video montage showcasing the museum's achievements over the decade was presented to the attendees.
This program was held to celebrate the accomplishments and success of the Malay Heritage Museum, which for the past 10 years has successfully introduced cultural heritage, history, arts, and other knowledge to the community through various events and activities. Over the decade, the museum has played an important role in preserving and promoting Malay heritage to current and future generations.
With various interesting activities planned for the Open Day, the Malay Heritage Museum hopes to continue inspiring and educating the community on the importance of preserving cultural heritage. The presence of distinguished guests and enthusiastic performances signify the museum's ongoing commitment to elevating Malay culture and traditions.
