UPM SERDANG, JUNE 16, 2025 – The Department of Malay Language, Faculty of Modern Languages and Communication, Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), organised the 14th Children's and Youth Literature Seminar on 12 June 2025 at the Za’ba Auditorium, FBMK, UPM. This seminar served as a platform for strengthening knowledge, sharing ideas, and exposing participants to current developments in the literary world, with a special focus on children and youth. The seminar was officiated by Dr. Hazimi Jahari, Director-General of Dewan Bahasa dan Pustaka.

The seminar was further enriched by a keynote address delivered by National Laureate YBhg. Dato’ Dr. Anwar bin Haji Rethwan, who is also the Chairman of the Board of Governors of Dewan Bahasa dan Pustaka (DBP). In his speech, he emphasised the importance of literature in shaping the character, values, and imagination of the younger generation, while urging the creation of more high-quality literary works for this group to ensure the continuity of the nation's cultural heritage.

In addition, the programme featured a distinguished panel of speakers, including Prof. Dr. Md Sidin Ahmad Ishak, Ms. Zalina Abdul Aziz @ Ninot Aziz, Associate Professor Datin Dr. Nik Rafidah Nik Muhammad Affendi, and Ms. Ain Maisarah binti Daliman, and was moderated by Mr. Ishak Hamzah and Mr. Ismail Adnan.

The seminar brought together a diverse group of participants including academics, writers, students, and literary enthusiasts who exchanged ideas through forums, academic paper presentations, and a poster competition. The poster competition served as a platform for creative expression and intellectual engagement among participants, in line with the seminar’s objective of fostering interest and empowering the potential of young people in the field of literature.

It is hoped that this seminar will inspire all parties involved to continue contributing actively towards enriching the body of children's and youth literature.
