
UPM SERDANG - Delegation from the Department of Malay Language, Faculty of Modern Languages and Communication, UPM, Participates in the International Conference on Elevating the Malay Language at Foreign Study, Tokyo University
The delegation from the Department of Malay Language, Faculty of Modern Languages and Communication, Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), participated in the International Conference on Elevating the Malay Language held at Foreign Study, Tokyo University, from September 10 to 11, 2024.
Led by Prof. Dr. Vijayaletchumy Subramaniam, the delegation comprised five presenters of research papers on Malay language studies and one additional participant. This two-day conference was organised by the Department of Malay Language and Literature, Faculty of Modern Languages and Communication, Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris (UPSI), in collaboration with Tokyo University as this year’s host.
Various issues and research topics related to the Malay language were presented, engaging delegates and scholars from countries such as Japan, Singapore, and Brunei. The participation of UPM’s delegation highlights the institution's commitment to promoting the Malay language internationally while strengthening academic collaborations regionally and globally.
This program is expected to serve as a catalyst for continued efforts to elevate the status of the Malay language as a language of knowledge and global communication.
