SERDANG, August 28- The Putra Experience X FBMK 2025 welcomed students from Kagawa University, Japan, to explore Malay traditions at the Faculty of Modern Languages and Communication (FBMK), Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM).

In the Traditional Games session, participants tried local games such as congkak and nenek kebayan, guided by Adib Fikri Hasji from the Malay Heritage Museum.
They also joined the Traditional Attire session, where students wore baju kurung and baju Melayu. The session was led by Dato’ Dr. Abdul Mua’ti @ Zamri Ahmad, FBMK Consulting Fellow, and ended with a photo session at UPM’s Traditional House.
As souvenirs, the students received kain pelikat and kain batik. They also enjoyed a tea break with pani puri, a popular Indian snack.

Yu Watanabe, 19, shared her excitement after wearing the baju kurung and tudung.
“I thought it might be uncomfortable, but it was actually very nice and modest. I really enjoyed the experience,” she said.
Meanwhile, Mao Sakai, 18, found congkak to be more than just a game.
“It was fun but also made me think about strategy. It’s a very smart traditional game,” she added.

The programme showed how FBMK UPM continues to build cultural connections and strengthen international friendships through local heritage.
