UPM SERDANG – The Faculty of Modern Languages and Communication (FBMK) at Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) was evaluated in the Fly the Jalur Gemilang Competition in conjunction with UPM’s Semarak Merdeka 2024 celebration. The evaluation was held at the Malay Heritage Museum, chosen as a symbolic location in commemoration of the museum’s tenth anniversary.

The evaluation session was led by Mr. Husalshah Rizal Hussian, Director of the Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah Arts and Cultural Centre. FBMK highlighted several significant events in the history of Malaya’s independence struggle, led by Tunku Abdul Rahman, as a way of honoring the nation's historic journey to independence.

Among the events showcased were the first General Election in 1955, the independence negotiation delegation to London in 1956, and the signing of the Federation of Malaya Independence Agreement on February 8, 1956. Also featured was a historic photo session between the Malay rulers and British officials as a symbol of unity in the struggle for independence.

FBMK hopes this effort will not only foster patriotism among faculty members but also remind the younger generation of the value of the independence struggle and the importance of preserving the country’s prosperity.
