Graduate With Disabilities Prove That Self-Limitation Is Not A Barrier To Success

SERDANG, Nov 27 - A graduate with disabilities (OKU) has finally achieved a Master's degree, proving that personal limitations are not barriers to success. Mior Mohd Firdaus Mior Mohd Fadzli, a physically challenged (PH) graduate, aged 26, successfully completed his Master's studies in Malay Language at Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) during the 47th Convocation Ceremony of UPM's 2nd Session for the year 2023.

"I require a cane and a wheelchair if needed to assist my movement anywhere, and this has caused me to face various challenges throughout my academic journey from the beginning. Holding firmly to the principle 'Where there's a will, there's a way,' Mior Mohd Firdaus believes that individuals with physical disabilities, as well as in character or personality, can rise if they have the determination to keep trying, even in the face of failure.

Though thoughts of giving up have crossed his mind, Mior Mohd Firdaus remained resolute in his struggle, his jihad for education.
"On a personal level, I feel that feelings of despair and the urge to stop or postpone studies are normal experiences felt by students because everyone has their own problems. However, life's pressures and trials should strengthen us to continue moving forward.

"It's my own limitations that actually drive me to strive for higher education and build a bright future because I know that success is not limited by one's shortcomings," he said.

Meanwhile, Mior Mohd Firdaus hopes to carve out success and become a source of inspiration for the community, especially for the OKU group, so they don't feel marginalized in the field of education because everyone has the opportunity to carefully develop their potential.
