UPM SERDANG, APRIL 4, 2024 - The Faculty of Modern Languages and Communication hosted a Cross-Cultural Exchange Program involving Yamagata Prefectural Sakata Higashi Senior High School from Japan. Nearly 40 students along with their accompanying teachers participated in this program aimed at strengthening the ties between Malaysia and Japan through cultural exchange.

During their visit, Japanese students not only learned about traditional Malaysian games but also had a unique experience visiting the university radio station, Putra FM. They were given the opportunity to experience being in a radio recording studio and gain a deeper understanding of the broadcasting industry in Malaysia.

Professor Abdul Rahman, the director of the Faculty of Modern Languages and Communication, stated that programs like these are important in expanding cultural understanding among local and international students. He emphasized that the cooperation between UPM and schools from abroad is a positive step in promoting the exchange of knowledge and experiences among students from various countries.

The visit by students from Yamagata Prefectural Sakata Higashi Senior High School to UPM is expected to be the beginning of closer relations between educational institutions in Malaysia and Japan. With cultural exchanges like this, it is hoped that a stronger network will be formed between the two countries for a brighter future.
