Accepting "Brain Update"

"New technology does not replace humans as it replaces humans who do not use new technology" - Dr. Justin Cohen.

So, how can we leverage these challenges and seize new opportunities such as AI systems?

Cohen's main argument is that humans not only need to adapt to the world dominated by AI, but they need to open their minds for further development. Software updates or "brain updates" are not about merging with machines, but about cultivating a set of core skills and attitudes to help us navigate through the AI revolution.

Before outlining the meaning of 'brain update', Cohen reveals the qualities that make us human. The ability to innovate, empathise, understand nuances, and demonstrate awareness are just a few characteristics that distinguish us from even the most advanced AI systems. Although AI excels in structured and data-driven tasks, humans retain their own advantages in creativity, emotional intelligence, and abstract reasoning.
